You know how sometimes skin care routine can be overwhelming? That's why we need SIMPLE recipes.
Today I am going to share a DIY face scrub recipe that leaves the skin soft, smooth and even-textured.
Did I mention it's simple - you only need 1 ingredient..
We exfoliate to help our skin shed off the the dead skin cells, to remove excess dirt and to increase the cell-turnover in the skin.
For most people, exfoliating 1-2 times a week is optimal. Overdoing it can cause dryness, itching, redness and eventually excess oil production.
I am a DIY practitioner, so my DIY face scrub recipe list grows with every single day.
There are those days where I would spend hours mixing ingredients and experimenting (because it's both relaxing and fun).
There are also those days where I wish I were a man so I can just splash a handful of water on my face and go...
So here is what I do when I feel this way - I make this 1-ingredient DIY face scrub.
It is simple (what is more simple then 1 ingredient) and leaves the skin feeling incredibly soft and renewed.
1-Ingredient DIY Face Scrub
1/2 cup pineapple, cubed
3-4 tbsp water
How To Prepare and Use It?
1. Simply throw the cubed pineapple into a blender with a bit of water and blend until smooth.
2. Apply with fingers or a facial mask brush. Avoid the eyes!
3. Leave on 5-20 minutes.
4. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.
5. Apply (toner and) moisturizer.
Skin Benefits of Pineapple
• Pineapple contains alpha hydroxy acids which appear to be beneficial for photo-damaged skin.
They stimulate collagen production and increase the skin thickness.
• The vitamin C in pineapple is a very effective acne treatment.
If you suffer from acne, you can use pineapple juice as a toner.
It contains bromelain, an anti-inflammatory enzyme that acts as a drying agent.
• Pineapple is rich source of Vitamin C and potassium.
Those are powerful antioxidants that will keep your skin safe from the free radicals (the bad guys causing wrinkles).
• Pineapple has a rough texture that eliminates the dead skin and stimulates blood flow.
This, in turn, makes your skin look fresher and brighter.
There are a few different ways to exfoliate, and one might be better for you depending on your need and skin type.
I promise to cover the options for exfoliating in the next post.
A key step in keeping your skin healthy and fresh is being consistent and patient with exfoliation.
And if you are a busy mom or working your a** off from 9 to 5, I know that the idea for measuring and mixing ingredients for half an hour isn't very attractive.
Luckily we have easy simple recipes ads this delicious DIY face scrub.
