Having pretty skin does not only mean putting on make-up and fixing things on the outside, it actually starts from deep within. Having pretty skin, first and foremost, means needing to have healthy skin. You need to choose healthy options and replace your daily routines that do not contribute to your wellness.
One of the easiest places to start would be your make-up kit. Come on, open it up and check out how many products you have in there that are using harsh chemicals that, sure, look nice on your skin, but then cause a lot of damage. Now would be the best time to check the ingredients of your make-up to make sure that whatever you are applying to your face on a daily basis is not harmful.
Most make-up brands nowadays use harsh chemicals for their products. This is alarming because not everyone has time to check the ingredients used in producing the make-up, and the sad fact is that not all brands disclose the contents of their products. We use these products willingly, day to day with no questions asked, until we suddenly find dark spots on our skin, acne breakouts, or even signs of premature aging.
I am so into natural products and do my best to promote healthier alternatives to products we use in our daily lives. Did you know that you can choose better skin products that do not contain any toxic or harsh chemicals? We should never take anything for granted-- least of all, our skin! This is why I made it a point to write this post and share with you the best non-toxic natural foundations I have come across and why you should use them.
Why do I need a Non-Toxic Foundation?
First things first-- how are non-toxic foundations better for your skin? What are their advantages? Why do you need to make the switch? I've asked myself these questions as well. Before making the switch to a natural, non-toxic foundation, I've been using one from a very famous makeup line and it worked fine, up until I did my research and discovered the many reasons why I needed to swap my favorite foundation for a toxin-free one.
If you check the ingredients listed in your favorite foundation’s label, I'm
sure you'll find chemicals such as Vitamin A Palmitate, Parabenz/Benzoyl Peroxide, Oxybenzone, and many more. These are the chemicals that are commonly used to produce makeup products which, in the long run, can lead to skin damage, irritation, and even worse health problems. What's even scarier is that most brands don't even disclose the chemicals used for their products, leaving you wondering what exactly is that you are applying onto your skin.
Just like choosing food that is beneficial for your diet and overall health, making sure you're using a safe and reliable cosmetic product should be your top priority when it comes to skin care. You don't eat food with loads of toxins, so why use and apply skin care products that come with the same risk? Our main goal when using skin care products and other cosmetic items is to feel healthier and enhance our beauty. Therefore, it would only make sense to opt for the ones that do not only add to external beauty, but also to our skin's wellness and long-term improvement.

Full Coverage Water Foundation
Water-based foundations are perfect for those of you who have oily skin-- they give you a more natural look and are lighter to wear compared to the traditional oil-based and powder types. The formula is incredibly lightweight and buildable, making it one of the bestsellers in the makeup industry. Of course, you have to pick the best kind of foundation for your skin type so if you're the oily type, this foundation would be best for you!
Boy, have I struggled for decades to find the perfect foundation that gives me good coverage and doesn’t break me out and finally found this non-toxic, fruit pigmented water-based foundation! It feels amazing going on, it isn’t greasy and doesn’t leave a residue, and it doesn’t break me out! It blends well, and I love the ingredient list.
The foundation has incredible coverage and provides a slightly dewy finish which makes your skin glow. It's my daily go-to foundation because
it's so easy to use and blends well with my other products, plus, it's toxic-free and uses natural oils instead of harsh chemicals.
I was hesitant to try it because it says it’s for normal to dry skin and mine is definitely oily (especially in T-zone.) I’m so glad I tried it. I use the matte primer under it.
I have a JLo skin tone and the olive 3.0 matches perfectly. I’m ordering a second bottle now because I don’t want to take a chance on it being out of stock when I run out! If you can’t find a perfect color match, try mixing shades. It is absolutely worth buying two shades to create the perfect tone— it’s that good.
Honestly, this foundation is a clean beauty holy grail to me. It absorbs so well into the skin and does not accentuate small fine lines like so many other foundations.
Plus, it’s so light that I can barely feel that I have any makeup on when I have it on.
To top everything up, you are going to love how hydrating this will make your skin feel.
Cream foundations, on the other hand, are the way to go if you have dry skin, normal skin, or a combination of both. This type usually has a thicker consistency, sealing in moisture and allowing your skin to absorb it. For mature skin, a cream foundation is very helpful because it provides amazing coverage, effectively concealing dark spots, blemishes, and other signs of aging.
I love using a cream foundation during winter when my skin tends to become drier, more sensitive, flaky at times and dull-looking.
It can be quite a challenge to find a cream foundation that looks natural, boasts a smooth, satin finish, and is non-toxic! Therefore I am so excited to present you with this nourishing cream foundation, made with antioxidant-rich fruits and cocoa beans which make it buildable and long-lasting. On top of that, the avocado powder mixed with rice powder provides a natural-looking and silky finish!
It is very clean and moisturizing. It covers well and has not irritated my skin in any way. I wear make-up about 4-5 days a week and foundation tin has lasted me almost 8 months. When it comes to applying it, I use a tear-drop makeup blender to spread it evenly on my skin.
If you have sensitive/dry skin I can’t recommend this foundation enough. You will be amazed to discover how light and gentle it feels and how easy and flawless the application is!
If you are looking for an easy makeup routine for the workweek, this one will be perfect for you. You can wear this cream foundation confidently all day at work, knowing there will be no caking what so ever! It's also convenient for travel. And if you are not a big fan of liquid foundations, this one is a great alternative to them.
Got oily skin? No worries, it blends well, goes on smoothly and offers the amount of buildable coverage without looking too oily.
For a more natural, no-makeup look, I would definitely suggest opting for a BB Cream. This is a wonderful combination of a number of your daily skin care products such as moisturizer, sunblock, primer, skin treatment, foundation, and concealer. It's a perfect all-in-one product that makes for quick and easy application-- the perfect on-the-go product for busy bees!
On days that I have to do a lot of errands and barely have time to apply my makeup, I use this non-toxic, hydrating BB cream because it's super easy to use and lasts me the whole day. It leaves me with an incredible luminous complexion because of its dewy, natural finish. Knowing that it's also vegan and cruelty-free definitely adds another level of glow to my skin. The best part is it's buildable so I can just use this on my face and some blush, lip tint and eyebrows, and voila, I'm ready to face the day!
P.S.: If you don't like the heaviness of foundation, you should give this BB cream a try. It blends effortlessly (no streaking at all) and it doesn't feel sticky or tacky which is a problem with other natural BB creams. It will even out your skin tone and give you just the right amount of coverage with a healthy glow.
I have some acne and chickenpox scarring and uneven skin tone and it covers it up well and adds a dewy look.
If you have oily or combination skin, don’t worry-- it won’t make you feel and look oily! It has a really nice blurring kind of effect.

Going natural and non-toxic is really a big step forward and can be a daunting task, but it's definitely worth all the effort. Being beautiful should not only be skin-deep. You have to be confident that, while making your skin pretty, you're also keeping it healthy and well. Opting for non-toxic products definitely eliminates risks of skin problems and other serious skin diseases. Plus, you will also be supporting vegan and cruelty-free production.
Imagine spending hundreds of dollars on products that will only do you harm in the long run-- it's such a waste of money and it only backfires in the end. Many brands claim to be safe and all-natural, but then you will see the same brands on the news because they're testing their products on animals or are using harsh chemicals that they do not disclose in their branding press releases.
